Activision Confirms 3 New Guitar Hero Games For This Year
According to GameIndustry.biz three new Guitar Hero games are set for release this year. In a conference call with Activision regarding their record profits for the last financial quarter, they have confirmed that there will be 2 new Guitar Hero games released in the first fiscal quarter (starting April 1st), and 3rd game to be released later on in the year.
Here is where things start to get confusing. An MTV game blog reports that there are only 2 new games slated for release this year. I am going to think gameindustry.biz has the correct information and MTV just heard about the first 2 games and not the 3rd. But I guess we will see.
So far Aerosmith is confirmed to be involved in one of the new games. And it has been rumored that U2 is going to be involved in another. There have not been too many details other than that. I personally hope the U2 rumor stays a rumor, and they surprise us with someone sweet. I’m not a big U2 fan.
On another note, doesn’t it seem that Activision is going to milk this series for everything its got. I mean I understand the need to make money, but spread the games out a little. I would have been fine with 2 new games this year, but I personally think 3 is just too much and they are getting greedy. I really don’t want to see Guitar Hero turn into Dance Dance Revolution or something.

I updated the post to clarify that there will be two new “Guitar Hero” offerings by the end of Q1, with another title by end of Fiscal 2009.
I disagree. Look at the response you recieved just on the song wishlist. There are so many artists and different possibilites as far as genres are concerned, it gives the fans more choices. I think U2 would be a great game (along with Aerosmith). But some, like yourself, may not care for U2. Just more choices…
You are right. The possibilities for Guitar Hero are nearly endless. The can do generation games like the 80’s one. They can do country, rock, ect. Im just saying dont release them all at once. Give a little time for each one to settle in. It is just my opinion though.
I would love to get some other writers on board to give different views and aspects, but no one has shown interest.
I agree with Joe. They should make generation versions or possibly a christian or country version. Plus spread it out a little bit seriously! Three new games in what is left of this year,come on!

I, personally, won’t give a shit to Aerosmith and U2 Guitar Hero’s. But if a Metal/Hard Rock only come by… That’s another talk. I would love them! That’s for sure!
please not U2, i dont even like the idea of a aerosmith version. It would have been better if they would of waited for Q1 of 2009 for Guitar Hero 4, but if their going to make another one besides aerosmith this year i hope is a band like AC/DC or Iron Maiden, or even led zeppelin
Well i wouldn’t mind more GH games but 3 would be to many… and Just remember people Aerosmith approached octane or whoever with the idea to make the GH: Aerosmith
